High and Low Voice

What's DC stand for?

An American teacher asked one of her pupils, "What's the nation's capital?"

  The reply was "Washington DC"

On being asked what the "DC"
stood for, the pupils all answered:

  "Dot com!"

High and Low Voice

“Can you explain to me what the difference is
between a high-pitched and low-pitched voice?”

  “A high-pitched voice is
when my father scolds me;a low-pitched voice is when my father speaks with his
boss.”

Umbrella

A gentleman staying in a hotel left his umbrella in the hall, but he had
put on the handle a card on which was written: "This umbrella belongs
to a gentleman who can lift up a hundred pounds. I shall be back in ten
minutes." When he came back, he found, instead of his umbrella, another
card on which was written,"This card belongs to a man who can run ten
miles an hour. I shall not come back."

Thank you for stopping by my blog! It is greatly appreciated :)

I loved this last bit about the umbrella. We tend to think ourselves so powerful at times. Yet there is always a greater power.

To a Brit, lifting up a hundred pounds has a rather different meaning – even I can do it, at least if it’s in £20 notes…
